2003 Oak Park Showhouse

 Residential Design

The 2003 ASID Illinois Showhouse, an English manor designed in 1924 by noted architect H.G. Fiddelke, typifies the character of the Village of Oak Park, Illinois. Barbara Pallat was chosen to decorate the stunning oak paneled dining room with French doors.

 DINING ROOM BEFORE

Our design concept was to restore this room to its original grandeur, making it comfortable for formal as well as family dining.

 DINING ROOM AFTER

Dining room was designed around this "one of kind, digitally produced wallcovering. The ceiling and crown were painted light cream, custom wallcovering installed, designs from wallcovering were printed on sheer linen fabric for the seat back cushions and curved sheer linen lambrequins used for window coverings. Your custom designed wallcovering could be any style and color you choose.

 WALLCOVERING

Mattingly Custom Finishes produced this one of a kind "custom designed digital wallcovering" for Barbara Pallat Interiors.

Creating the Custom Designed Digital Wallcovering

The designers met with the Mattingly artist to discuss the overall design. Their requirements were to use old European buildings, have a romantic ambience, use a cream background with terra cotta, sepia and touches of black, along with some lettering. The result is this beautiful canvas.

After the background and images were completed on a single canvas, the canvas was digitally photographed, duplicate panels were created in Adobe Photoshop, images were repositioned to eliminate a static look and then printed onto a high quality suede-like wall covering.

With the artwork in the computer, enlarged images of the European buildings were printed on a sheer linen, and chair cushions were made.

This lambriquin design was chosen for its soft curving lines. It is a sheer linen fabric with custom dyed cording on the inside edges. Custom colors were taken from the room's wall covering.
